My son woke up this morning with ESPN on tv…like he does every morning…and saw the #1 play of the day was by a local (The only Waunakee in the World!) 8th grade basketball player…I have finally found it on Youtube (I think it’s the player himself who posted it) and wanted to share it all with you here

Holiday lights in Madison

The other night we went to Olin-Turville Park in Madison for the yearly Holiday Fantasy in Lights and we wanted to share it with you this holiday season. The music is by Podsafe for Peace and is a great message for this time a year. Plus you can download it from their web site with all proceeds going to support UNICEF.

Girls gone wild…..well, not quite…

I hope to be recording some things soon to kick off NaPodPoMo later this week. I will probably have to record them ahead of time since the family and I will be in New Jersey for a few days later this week and I won’t have access to my recording equipment until Sunday night. I’m going to try really hard to have something in my feed everyday of NaPodPoMo, but we will just have to see how it goes!

In the meantime, here is a video I created with my Canon HG-10 of my daughters soccer team (the Waunakee Wild) in action at a tournament in Libertyville IL a couple weeks ago. I am going to add it as a .mp4 (ipod style) and a .flv (flash video). Please let me know which works best for you since I will likely have more video in the feed in the future and I want to know what works best for all of you!

As anyone who has even casually visited here over the course of the last year or so, the answer to the question in the title is….

Not Much

It started out as the place I would post my podcasts…then it became a vast wasteland for awhile. Next I tried to catch the podcasting bug again by taking part in NaPodPoMo . That only worked for a little more than a week. Soon, I started posting videos, whether from my Treo or from a web site. But even that faded quickly. Lately it has been playing with Twitter, but even that won’t last long. Then today I spent some time updating the software for this blog and adding Adsense etc and when I was done I sat back and looked at it all and said…

Why am I doing this?

Well, I pondered that for awhile and couldn’t answer it so I came up with this great idea…

Ask you all…

… the people who occasionally come here. After all you must come here for some reason. So what is it? What is it you want to see/hear here? By now you should all know a dozen or so ways to get hold of me. Use any of those methods or any new ones you can think of to let me know what you think. Who knows maybe this will all lead onto something bigger and better! At worst it will just lead to more of the same….

My sister, a music teacher in Orlando Florida, was surprised the other day when her students and some others ‘kidnapped’ her the day of their big holiday concert. You can read and see what happened here:

More fun with OPML

I’ve added a ‘podroll’ of New Jersey podcasts that I’m aware of. You can find in in the lower right hand corner of most pages here. Yes, it’s not pretty. But I’m really wet behind the ears when it comes to creating web content in general and specificialy OPML in this case. The cool thing is if your aggregator supports Dave Winer’s idea of a “Reading List” you can subscribe to the opml file I use to create this (by clicking on the little opml logo) and automagicaly be subscribed to all these podcasts. What is even cooler is that as I change the list, your subscriptions will also change. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

According to YeastRadio.com Richard Bluestein’s partner Juan passed away this morning. He had been battling Hodgkins Lymphoma for some time now and the last few weeks have been very difficult for both of them. My thoughts and I hope the thoughts of ALL fellow podcasters and listeners go out to Richard in this time of sorrow. We may all come from different backgrounds and have different beliefs, but having a loved one pass away is something that has or will affect all of us at some point in our lives.

Well it sure has been a fun week here. NOT!!

First off I had troubles ordering the new pc’s for myself and my son due to a misundertanding with my wifes credit union on how timely online transactions are supposed to be. It seems that even though you make a transaction online via their web site, you need to follow up with a phone call to make sure it really worked!?!?! I also found out today that according to the vendor I used for my computer (who will remain nameless unless they really tick me off) “In stock” doesn’t necessarily mean they have one ready to deliver. After waiting for nearly a week since I ordered it and seeing no change in the online status (It’s been ’sent to the warehouse’ for a week?), I contacted them today to find out their “distributor had to delay some orders due to some technical difficulties” and that I should check back in a day or so. Great!

Next up, one by one starting with my daughter we all got the flu this past weekend. We are slowly all getting back on our feet and should be ‘normal’ (whatever that is) in a few more days.

Saturday night we had about a 30 degree temperature drop along with a horrible wind and ice storm in the area. This has made things nasty outside, not that we were really going anywhere anyway since we were all sick!

Today Pete and I (okay mostly Pete) struggled with trying to get an OPML renderer for WordPress working. After a lot of struggle, Pete simply removed the spaces between the arguments of the syntax and voila! The rendering of the OPML worked like a charm. It also however totally FUBAR’ed the layout of my blog. Sigh…back to square one!

Anyway….add all these things together and throw in the fact that tomorrow is my wedding anniversary and Thursday is a soccer meeting and it’s likely that I won’t be able to post a podcast for at least another few days. Sorry for the delay, but I promise things will get even better as we work out the bugs (software, hardware and healthwise)!

…it usually is. So is the case with CNBC coming to film tonight’s podcast. They called about 3:30 this afternoon to ‘postpone’ it till ‘maybe’ sometime in January. The podcast will still go on, but tonight I just don’t have the heart for it.

Howdy folks!Been down here for two days now and we’re having a blast. While waiting for my flight at the airport I found a store that sold wireless accessories etc. I bought a Belkin adapter for my iPod to enable the voice recorder that is built in. I brought to see the Discovery launch today and hope to have some ’sound seeing’ audio from it for my next podcast. If all goes well, I should have some time to do a podcast in the next few days where I will fill you all in on everything else that is happening down here.

1) It seems there was a glitch at the end of Episode 17. Thanks to “CastBlaster” Mike for pointing it out to me. It seems I helped him close up another hole in CastBlaster by making a boneheaded mistake!

Server move

Well I’ve finally gotten all the podcasts moved to our new digs. You should notice much faster downloads now and no bottlenecks waiting for my pokey dsl line. With the new servers and bandwidth I’ll also be able to encode the podcasts at a higher bit rate, which should make them sound even better. I hope to be creating a new one soon. Let me know what you think about all the new improvements!
